Canon Characters and Canon Related Characters
Instead of creating their own Character to play, many prefer to use one that was created by the author herself. These are called Canon Characters and we do allow all that are in the books with the following exceptions and reasons:
- Harry Potter: He doesn't exist as we play in an alternate universe.
- Albus Dumbledore: As the major room wide plots involve him, the Staff prefers to handle this Canon
- Lord Voldemort/Tom Marvolo Riddle: As the major room wide plots involve him, the Staff prefers to handle this Canon
- Peter "Wormtail" Pettigrew: He was killed this last term in play.
To get approval for a Canon Character you must have a Character Sheet approved before actual play. If one already exists (as in the Canon was orphaned) you may play as soon as it it free.There is no grace period for play testing as with Original Characters. There is however, a two week audition period to see if you are doing justice to the Character. This applies to everyone, even a host. Canon Related Characters must also have a sheet before play, as well, because while they are original, they do have a name and relationship with the Canon Character. As we are an alternate universe, however, there are many things that may be different. Examples:
- Tom Riddle never opened the Chamber of Secrets, so Hagrid has finished his Hogwarts education.
- Lily Evans married Sirius Black and not James.
- Lucius Malfoy was never married to Narcissa and Narcissa is not related to Sirius Black. Lucius and Narcissa do have a child named Draco Malfoy, however.
- Remus Lupin is an assistant to the headmaster at Hogwarts. He was never a professor.
